What’s changing on February 25th, 2026?
From this date, our self-service app (which provided the basic, self-service tier of Purple Dot) will be decommissioned.
After this date, any merchant using our self-service app will no longer be able to:
- Create new Waitlists, or
- Take new pre-orders through the Purple Dot app on your store.
Nothing changes for merchants contracted into our enterprise tier. This change is about doubling down to make your pre-order experience even better!
Why are we making this change?
To best support our merchants, we’ve made the difficult decision to retire our self-service pre-order app.
This allows us to focus fully on our enterprise product, which provides:
- FTC-compliant payment at time of order, and
- Guaranteed compatibility with downstream fulfilment systems.
Can I upgrade to the enterprise version of Purple Dot?
If you expect to process $500k+ in pre-order GMV over the next 12 months, we’d love to explore whether the enterprise version of Purple Dot is a good fit for you!

What happens if I don’t upgrade?
If you’re unable to upgrade, your store will still be supported through the completion of any existing pre-orders.
From February 25th, 2026:
- You will no longer be able to create new waitlists or take new pre-orders.
- Any pre-orders placed before this date will continue to be managed by Purple Dot.
We will support all open pre-orders until they are released for fulfilment or canceled, provided fulfilment completes by December 31st, 2026.
Once your final pre-order has been released or canceled, the Purple Dot app will be automatically uninstalled from your store.
What happens to existing pre-orders?
All pre-orders placed before February 25th, 2026 will continue to be fully supported.
Purple Dot will:
- Automatically release pre-orders for fulfilment when instructed, and
- Trigger payment at the appropriate time, as per your existing setup.
No action is required from you for existing pre-orders.
When will I lose access to the Purple Dot portal?
You will retain access to the Purple Dot portal while you have active pre-orders.
Access will be removed once:
- Your final pre-order has been released or canceled, and
- The Purple Dot app has been uninstalled from your store
