How do I place test orders?Updated a year ago

You can start placing test orders after you proceed through our setup and create a waitlist. More information on setting up waitlists here.

Brands often make a new product in Shopify for testing to check various functionality with pre-orders. They often test:

(1) Adding a pre-order item to cart and checkout

(2) Checkout with a combined cart (in stock & pre-order items) to test functionality and to ensure their warehouse/3PL honors the on hold status.

When placing test orders you can check and make sure that pre-orders show with the On Waitlist status in the Purple Dot dashboard.

We also recommend marking both these orders as 'ready to fulfill' in your Purple Dot dashboard to make sure they show up as you'd expect in your 3PL software. 

Here's what the two cases above look like in Shopify: 

(1) Individual Pre-order items will show with on hold status and payment pending. 

(2) Combined orders (in stock and pre-order items) will show as partially paid with the pre-order on hold until it's marked as ready to fulfill.
